King Baldwin IV: The Tragic Leper King of Jerusalem

King Baldwin IV, known as the "Leper King," ascended to the throne of Jerusalem at age 13 in 1174, a reign complicated by his diagnosis of leprosy. Despite his debilitating illness, he proved to be a formidable military leader, most notably securing a major victory against Saladin at the Battle of Montgisard in 1177.
