This argues the 9/11 Commission was rigged to fail, led partly by people responsible for the very security lapses it was supposed to investigate, and that a widow's lawsuit forced it into existence at all. I sit on planes-and-failure for the attack itself, but the criticism of the Commission's independence is fair and well-trodden ground.
