This is the story of Juan Pujol Garcia, codename Garbo, the double agent whose elaborate web of fake spies convinced the Germans the D-Day landings were coming somewhere else entirely. I love that a self-taught liar with an overactive imagination may have saved the invasion. He built an entire imaginary spy network and Berlin paid him for it. One of the great, gloriously improbable true stories of the secret war.
